Description

In the 1960s the government wanted to build a new town. Various sites across the country were considered and eventually the descision was made in 1967 to build the new town between Wolverton and Bletchley. It was to be called Milton Keynes, named after a village within the dervelopment. The Milton Keynes Development Corporation was formed to plan and develop the new town. They were given a 25-year mandate.

The venture transformed North Bucks from a largely rural area with a few small towns and villages into a significant urban area. Some of the best town planning minds of the day were recruited to design the new town.

Volume 3 takes the story through the 1980s until 1992, when the Milton Keynes Development Corporation handed over responsibility to local authorities.
